With her first Italian exhibition, entitled "Strange Bird" the Berlin artist Antje Neppach (born 1963) is presenting paintings, drawings and sculptures depicting children and birds as victims of violence. The artist works with natural materials, oil paint, canvas, wax and plaster, with adds another dimension to the meaning of these works, portraying violence as a force of nature. The works are an exercise in contrasts, the innocence of children versus the destruction of violence, birds as the symbol of peace and freedom cought in the throes of power and ultimately death. The vulnerability of life is a common theme explored in the work of Antje Neppach.
